Camp ASCCA (Alabama's Special Camp for Children and Adults)
Camp ASCCA (Alabama Special Camp for Children and Adults) — Jacksons Gap
Camp ASCCA on Lake Martin is the world's largest barrier-free recreational camp (not merely 'one of the largest'), set on 230 wooded acres. It provides overnight weekly sessions and weekend sessions for children and adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. Eligibility requires a documented disability — the camp does not offer 'traditional youth weeks' open to the general public. Activities include swimming, archery, fishing, horseback riding, zip-line, canoeing, tubing, rifle range, accessible waterslide, mini-golf, splash pad, and arts & crafts. The camp is operated by Easterseals Alabama and is ACA-accredited.
